Why you may ask? Future plans for a Chevy LS3 6.2 all alloy (Monaro VXR8) engine would blow even a BMW diff and I love independent rears!
The fabrication work is being done at Pete Farmer Performance Racing Ltd, (google petefarmer.com) in Wilton nr Salisbury, Wilts. He is well known at producing awesome race cars (mostly Healey 3000's) and was used because of his experience of Jag IRS installations in various cars.
Should be on the road next year still running the PI lump whilst development takes place.
Still to do list : A Rover SD1 Vitesse servo and tandem master cylinder will be used together with Jag stubs/hubs/discs and very heavy calipers, until lightweight Willwoods or similar are sourced cheaply, to keep it 5 stud all round. Propshaft, battery relocation to the boot, coilovers, alloy fuel tank and rear section of exhaust still to be fabricated. Then the whole lot sprayed and put back together again. Graham

Nice work Graham, I've been following it on the CT forum so it's good to see it on here too.

Thanks Steve. LS3 conversion approx £10,000 so will have to wait a couple of years! Identical weight to PI so will run that to set it all up and save up money. Just started my own business so most of my rainy day funds are allocated there. I pictured and planned the end result and it will happen.

Good old Andy, he knows so many people in the the Triumph community that having him at shows is always beneficial for all of us. The guy that you sold the yellow peril to was at Stoneleigh too, his surname is the same as mine and he lives in our locallity.
Your car is just the sort of thing that we could use (if you let us

) on a show stand in the future. This year is all about mk1s, but it's not that way normally, so please take this as an invitation for the future if you fancy it.
Colin.

This is great engineering, just what I like. Just not sure this isn't going to twist. The Triumph box sections and diff rear mounts are cruciformed at four parts of the chassis. Is the metal work in the center of the body substantial enough. Just mouthing off - as I tend to do.

Yes I considered this also Steve. The box section between the inner arches has gussets welded to them to spread the load a bit better. The coilovers when installed are attached to this box section so it had to be substantial. The diff maintenance cover is screwed on so if there is any weakness it will show here. There are 2 radius rods underneath with a bush at one end and a rose joint at the other, supported at the X member under the rear seat. What you don't see clearly in the pics are the two diff supports (either side and spread upwards and outwards) mounted to brackets welded onto the existing box sections near the old spring seat. My camera batteries ran out. The new arches are steel and seam welded on to the inner and outer arches for strength. A roll cage is on the shopping list!

Peter Jackson helped a lot in the welding department. He was sweating!
