Someone I know quite well realised I had 2 Triumphs, so revealed he drove 2.5PIs when in the Police, I will interrogate him more when I next see him (didn't have long, I was train driver he was guard, we were due away (Heritage Railway)) - but he did say :-
- that independent rear suspension, you could go flat out into a corner, then lift off just as you turned in, and that would get it nicely sideways (not sure going sideways round corners is appropriate for Police drivers, but still...)
- the plastic fuel pipes to the injectors, if you stopped when the engines were really hot, the pipes having got a bit soft would stop you restarting (not too convinced about that either...)
- the fuel pumps caused interference to their radios until Lucas suppressed the motors.

I've a couple of good pictures of it at a Goodwood Revival track lap several years ago, chasing a gang of rockers on bikes. I think the rockers would have got away on mopeds!!

The photo I'm referring to was, probably, taken in the 60's and was in the "custody" of my uncle who was a traffic officer in the N.Yorks force.
