Hi,
Does somebody know what diameter is this overflow hose? I would like to replace the very fetching garden hose I have actually…

Re: Hose to overflow bottle
For the internal diameter of the original pipe, you could measure the outlet from the radiator neck, and for the external diameter, measure the internal diameter of the rubber grommet in the expansion bottle itself. The pipe is a snug fit in the grommet and a tight fit on the filler neck outlet.
I think I said this before - the original pipe is a hard thin walled plastic which has the bend 'moulded' in it which isn't particularly flexible even when warm. The problem using an alternative such as windscreen washer hose is that it kinks on the bend below the nearside hinge and looks as is it is an after thought!
You would be far better off finding an original used pipe for the cost of it, and also for originality / appearance (from a personal point of view I prefer originality!)

Re: Hose to overflow bottle
Thank you, found some clear hose for now that fits the grommet tightly, will wait for next big order to get an original. Although the radiator connection is on the opposite side of the filler neck to the bottle. Might be a LHD thing.
Re: Hose to overflow bottle
I had a radiator like that on my S with the expansion outlet on the neck on the offside. It usually happens when radiator is recored and the neck is unsoldered from the header tank during the repair, and inadvertantly replaced the wrong way round. I got round it using a small U shape moulded rubber pipe from a Vauxhall Cavalier fuel system (I used to have Cavaliers and it was a hose I just happened to have in!). It fitted snugly round the back of the neck and when connected to the original hard plastic hose, was barely noticeable.
I had another radiator recored last year and the neck on that one was fitted the wrong way round - at least the company agreed to correct it free of charge! It does however seem to be a relative common mistake.....!
