The nuts on the manifold/down pipe joint should be brass which should help them not seize, although from experience it rarely does and they round off much easier. I normally sacrifice the nuts and use a small nut splitter.

As of today the P.I now has a full years MOT,no issues and nothing to take note of so well pleased, getting there at last,i actually bought it on 31/1/15 so been working hard, and feeling very ill....
I may try and make it more presentable but not going down any showcar route, but still want it a touch smarter.
I,ve made up a wants list which i will post in the wanted section.

Latest update on the P.I is that its at work and i,ve had it in the air tonight and all looks great,i,am going over a few things that i found hard to do when i was on my back in zero temps,so just want to be sure i looked at everything.
I need to realign the exhaust as this it resting on the subframe hole, which is strange as i have all the correct mountings.
Going to give it a good waxoyl aswell and a general going over.
I will be changing all the hoses aswell that i got taoday from CW some of these look a little old so best replace them and new clips/coolant so hopefully all will be good.

I've found a good way of getting the adjustment of the pipe correct where it passes through the subframe is to slacken the exhaust mounting on the cross-member enough to allow movement, use some small pieces of wood or similar between the pipe and subframe tube to establish and maintain the correct clearance all around, then retighten the mounting clamp in the correct position. (Do remember to remove the bits of wood after  ).
