Knee op at last!

#1 Post by TedTaylor »

I did not dare confirm this before because I seemed to have problems which have kept postponing things. Quite a few people have been kind enough to ask this year how things have been coming on

Well I am at last sitting in bed in hospital after having my knee replaced on Monday two months later than originally planned. No problems YET and they want me out on Thursday but knowing knowing my luck that could be Friday ..... or later!

Once home I have to get mobile again and get my cars ready for the RBRR ...... in six months time ...... Sounds a reasonable time but the PI estate needs some titivating and the Mk1 saloon needs the bodywork finishing off and painted after Andy Dann did a major job to the metal work last year, and then I need to sort the engine out and give the running gear a thorough going over after 20 years of inactivity. And as I will have mobility problems for a while and cannot even drive the timing will be fun!

One person has offered to travel over here and give a weekend's help ....... somehow think I may be taking up their kind offer :D .

Good to hear it's gone ahead Ted. I was wondering.

I hope you have a speedy recovery back to mechanical activities!

Cheers,
Mike.

It's been a long time coming Ted, but now the recovery is up to you.
Don't over do it, let it heal as well as keeping it mobilized, it would be very easy to damage the good work that has been done, with impatience.
There is a fine line pain wise between natural discomfort from what's been done (and the healing process) and Ted Taylor knowing best and soldiering on regardless!

We wish you a speedy recovery

I hope the new knees are NOS parts, not pattern parts!

Good luck with the recovery

Thanks everyone for the good wishes and warnings to not try to maintain the typical Mad Uncle Ted behaviour (Colin :D ) Anyway safe at home now and with Steph and the dogs.

Oh bu**ar.

Just had a check up because of a problem with the leg below the 'new' knee (which was progressing) and it has been confirmed that I have a DVT.

I must, as Colin says, now start to be 'Sensible Uncle Ted' for a while and really take things quietly for a quite a few weeks with minimal moving around until the problem clears - which is going to put pressure on the time scale for the getting the Mk1 saloon body finished off and the car ready for the RBRR :(

Now for a while SUT
