Re: save our cars

#51 Post by laurence »

With such a small band of dedicated enthusiasts it will not be easy to find suitable accommodation for these cars, i would echo what Clifford has said and recall a similar situation on a remote farm here in south Devon,- the cars were no more than piles of junk after only a few years of being outside.
I already have a couple or three Triumphs and would only be able to offer room,in a dry garage, for spares but i would always try to save a big six triumph if i could. At least the Mk1 i offered for spares a year ago has been saved and i understand is well on its way to being back on the road,
cheers,
Laurence

Llyod

as discussed last night.
The MK1 that is local to me and needs saving.
I personally have not seen the car but a mate as. He say's it is a little frilly in places but the panels are straight with no knocks or dings.
He thought the car was Slate Grey but the pics look like Dolphin, although I have seen Slate Grey fade but not to this extent.

The red trim is supposebly very good so that worth saving........

Seller is asking £600..............see what I can do.

If it is Dolphin.............it quite a rare colour

come on guys, i feel like the lone ranger out here, i need a tonto !!!!!!!!

all these cars that are creeping out of the woodwork, need a home and saving ( although they may of been saved by non members ?? )

i cant do everything, had loads of offers of storage and people willing to collect cars and funds for the kitty, and thats fab, many many thanks to one and all, but we need someone to step up and offer to arrange this on a permenant basis, eg proper formation of " club etc ", bank account for kitty, larger storage areas around the country ( big farmers barns etc )

between work and sorting the panels, plus just a little social life, i cant do it all single handedly.

i know its gunna be hectic at first, but there must be somebody out there willing to aid in this formation and when its sorted, us members will have cars on tap for when we want to buy one back from the formation to restore ( at say + 25% of purchase cost ???? )

any takers guys ?? dont forget, club triumph is on board as well.

pleeeeeeeeeeeese

Hi Lloyd,

I'd really love to help, both with time and money, but I'm not in a position to do so right now.

Indeed, I've just secured new, temporary 'storage' for my PI after giving up a double garage due to moving house last week...so I'm sadly in no position to harbour additional Big Sixes...although I'd dearly love to!

For instance, the timing of that MkII PI Estate coming onto the market really sucks - that's just the spec of car I'd love...

good on ya pete, top man !!!!!!

ill let lee and andy know, although they will prop see it on here :D

a bank account is needed, along with alot of other things, we need to thrash out some ideas between us all eg, name of this" save our cars " foundation, menbers, limit on how much we spend on each car, selling on price of the cars ( + 25% of purchase price ? ), members to collect cars, members to store cars, finding bigger affordable storage areas around the country ( farmers barns etc ), subs / fee for joining the newly formed " club ", etc etc etc, and most of all, someone to run it !!!

any more thoughts guys on whats needed, as there will be plenty more needed, as this needs to be run properly.

thanks pete, your a star

COME ON TRIUMPH LOVERS, FOLLOW PETES LEAD, and thanks to everyone thus far that has offered help, aid and funds for the kitty, keep it comming
