The wipers on my mk2 worry me a little. After being in use for 20 minutes or so, they start to drop lower down the screen, below the normal park position.  I don\'t think they actually hit the screen frame but get pretty close.  The other extent of thier travel remains constant.
They also park in this slightly lower position until next time they are used (the car having dried off, ie overnight) The cycle repeats itself.
The car has always done this, just wondered if its normal or not?

Similar with mine, in a way.  They don\'t go the full sweep for the first 15 minutes or so, and if I switch them off, they stay up the screen a bit.  Once they\'ve run for a while, they give the full sweep and park at the bottom of the screen on switch-off.
I turned the cable 180 degrees some years ago but it made little difference.  There doesn\'t seem to be huge amount of wear in the mechanism.
I rarely use the car in wet weather these days, only if I get caught out in a shower, so it doesn\'t really bother me... except I occasionally switch on the wipers instead of the indicators (opposite sides to my Rover) and the wipers stop right in my view as a reminder of my carelessness!  I then wind down the window and reach out to put the wiper right, just to confirm to onlookers that I\'m truly weird!
So Alan is not alone - in having dickie wipers I mean, not in being weird - and I\'d also like to know the reason.  I thought it might be due to the grease being too thick, however the \'push-pull\' of the mechanism is controlled by the offset pin on the motor, so how can the travel vary?

Hopefully not too much to worry about, dickie wipers and weirdness aside!!
I heard about one car where the plastic drive cable thing broke but that doesn\'t explain variable travel.
I suffer from the transposed indicator / wiper switch syndrome too.  I often \'flash\' the wipers at people who get in the way of my 2000!!
My Golf has those indicators which give 3 flashes if you briefly press the stalk and I often set these off when fumbling for the single wipe function in the VW which of course is actually on the other side.  Confuses other motorists no end.....
