The countdown has begun for the Autobox revamp - but on top of that im supplying a CW new strengthened flexiplate to replace my original damaged one, rear crank oilseal etc but the gearbox rebuilder are asking for new bolts for the flywheel/flexiplate to crankshaft. CW doesnt do them, stating that they are never an issue. I would rather, if possible, have a set ready if needed. Can anyone advise on this?

these bolts are readily available, if you look.

It is a modern thing to replace fasteners during overhaul or removal of them, due to the way they are used on modern cars.
I wouldn't consider replacing them with new either. Your car, your choice.

Mmm i think i get what you are saying Alec. I am of the impression the gearbox rebuilder would rather have a back up set ' just in case' any of my original bolts may be an issue on removal, but my take on that is - which supplier do i trust for a replacement set of the same quality, bearing in mind CW does not do them - i should of perhaps made that point clearer in my original post. I take your point. Stick to the original bolts, which as CW advised me, they are rarely an issue.

While I am not a fan of Rimmer Brothers, they do sell them and would expect them to be equal to the originals? The only difference between them and standard high tensile bolts is the depth of the head. I don't remember if the grade is stamped on them but if it is that woudl give a guide?

Just occured to me that someone like Revington TR who are performance specialists would sell a good quality item? (They do stock them)

Thanks Alec, that was kind of what i was after, someone that knows a product that is fit for purpose from a particular supplier. Past experiences dictate i was not keen on getting some from R.B......i think as swapping the flywheel is not usually a job that the Transmission company carry out as part of a 'box overhaul, ( i have asked them as an 'extra' as well as new rear crank seal), they would not have those bolts on the shelf if any of them did give an issue on removing. I will look Revington up.

I have a set of bolts on the way from Revington so thank you for that tip Alec. The decision now would be which set to put back !!!!! I do think if the originals free out ok i feel they should just re-use them.....

Never had to replace these. Triumph in those days used quality products.

I believe so ! Yes i think i will try and convince them to re - use the originals. Not sure why they are asking for ' a spare set' but these days it seems ' rules are rules'.
