The Triumph 2000 / 2500 / 2·5 Register Forum

Last week I delivery of Peter Redheads's saffron Triumph 2000 MK2 Automatic (October 2020 Six Appeal centre fold). Today was the first dry day so I had a little test drive, all good except a slight tyre shake up to 30. My next job will be to replace the hardly worn, but old, tyres as I think they have slight flat spots from storage. The steering wheel is well worn and I think I will replace that, the mixture wants sorting as it's running rich, and at a later date I will have the seat base re-webbed, it's not bad but I'm a biggish bloke. Other than that it all seems happy days!

Welcome to the Forum! There are several Register members on here from Lancashire, and the Lancashire Group of the Register have a good following and we are reasonably active during the show seasons (well, in preCovid times anyway!).
Where abouts in Lancashire are you? It would be good to see your car when restrictions are lifted and our monthly meetings / get togethers get back to something like normal!
Plenty of knowedgable people on here so if you have any queries, just ask!

Hi John, I'm from Garstang, I am also quite busy at local shows, I had a Mk1 Golf Cabriolet for the last 3 yrs shows but it wasn't practical, so the Triumph has arrived!

Very wise change (although I always liked the VW Golf, especially the Mk 4 GTi Turbo and the V5!!)
When things get somewhat back to normal, although when is the unknown question, when we are permitted I am hoping to arrange a Register 'run out' in the Triumphs for the Lancashire and other local groups in the North West, as some of the cars will not have turned wheel in 2020!!

Hi John. I wanted a 4dr automatic car with a big boot that could handle 50 miles of the M6 on the way down to Shropshire. I’ve had a P6b, V8 was nice but not a roomy car. The choice was Landcrab1800/2200 or Triumph. I’ve owned both as manuals in the past. On my first police driving course in 1977 we used a Triumph 2500tc, a Rover P6 2200tc, and a Holbay engined Hillman Hunter GT. The Triumph was the best all rounder, but the Hunter was a little hooligan!

Hello John and welcome to the forum. Aready looking foward to seeing your Triumph, its a bit of a 'Marmite' colour to some, but its a shade I like, having had a Saffron PI and a 2000 in the past. I tried to get a local friend of mine interested in your car when it was for sale, but he let the opportunity slip by, so I'm pleased its come up to Lancashire! As the other John says, our group is fairly active with monthly meetings, local shows and drive-it-days etc. We just need this bloody virus to go away and we're back in business!

Hi Dave, it's a muted colour compared to its stablemate, the Modena Green Meanie. I like my cars to stand out from the crowd. I am getting cabin fever not using my motors and hope the shows and runs will be allowed by May. My friends were trying to get me to join the Straight Six club as they had had TR6's until recently, but I wanted to join the right club for my car.
