2500 gearbox conversion from manual to auto

#1 Post by davee60 »

Hi all,

Just toying with the idea of buying a 2500S and converting it from a manual to an automatic. Would anyone have all the bits I need, preferably the type 65 box. I must stress this is only a maybe as I don't seem able to find an auto 2.5, 2500 or 2500S and really is a non desirable option. (72 years young and only an auto license)

You will possibly struggle to find a used BW65 and correct prop with the two flanges, as most owners who may have done the more common conversion from auto to manual are more likely to have a BW35 available plus all the bits needed.
I will have the majority of parts to convert to an auto with a BW35 if you do decide to go for it.

I've got a used 2500 (037 Series IIRC) BW65 box, there may also be a bellhousing somewhere as well, but that's it. It would need a refurb though as it's been standing (albeit in the dry) for years.
Currently over 35 years worth of fixing 35 boxes.
Hoping to reach 65 years worth of fixing 65 boxes.
