What flavour of exhaust?
Hello
My new (to me) manual PI is fitted with a peashooter of an exhaust, so I'm going to dump it and get one from Somerset
So, those of you who've done the same in the past, should I go for semi-sport, sport or super-sport?
My old 2500TC auto had a semi-sport, which was nice but a little subdued...
Also, I'm guessing that getting new mounting gear, including manifold studs/nuts is a good idea, right?
Thanks

Re: What flavour of exhaust?
Jim I would not go for a super sport for general driving. The noise while nice can be a bit embarrassing and you start to find yourself worried about opening the throttle at all anywhere near home - even a sport will be a problem if you are taking the family out and the wife is not keen on the noise !
Yes new mounting gear is essential as the original stuff is invariably kna**ered.

For what its worth,i think the natural understated sound of a straight six, both kerbside and inside,is what these cars are all about imho.
So peashooters for ever i say!!

Semi sport. Has one silencer in the middle (as opposed to standard two) and a Witor back box.
Had this on my old yellow estate, nice burble but not too loud. Full sport is just too much at our age!

You lot are no fun
The peashooter really has to go, since I fear it's strangling the poor car...
Semi-sport is the most expensive, so who's willing to chip in then, eh?

My 2500 has a straight through centre section with a Chris Witor back box, and I don't consider it too loud, it just makes is presence known, shall we say.
In contrast, my 2000 has a standard type 3 box stainless system and you can't hear it, boring & flat !

1. You are deaf
2. Your neighbours are deaf
3. You don't you like your neighbours
4. You don't give a **** for your neighbours
5. You live miles from anywhere
6. Up North (!) noise does not worry you.
7. How many pot scourers have you got stuffed up the back box to quieten things down ..........

Re: What flavour of exhaust?
Jim,
Why would you want a semi when you can have a full on?
Go for a full sport. The sound it makes is awesome. You can always buy an additional centre box later if you find it too loud. (But I doubt you will)

Re: What flavour of exhaust?
I vote semi sport - more subtle on an unmodified saloon - I have semi on my PI estate and it sounds gorgeous but not loud - after a pea shooter anything will sound superb

Re: What flavour of exhaust?
I have a sport system on the Rally Car, need all the performance I can get!!! but it is rather wearing on long trips. The PI has a semi sport, and this is what I would go for. Has the great note, but much easier to live with.
