The Triumph 2000 / 2500 / 2·5 Register Forum

I purchased an SAH rocker cover (painted blue in the photographs) from comparatively new Forum Member user name 'miles' (or Jonathan Schaffer?) in Bedford who has the user name 'shannette2' on ebay where the cover was also listed before he removed it, and it was apparently sent to me 2 months ago ...... but I have not received it.

It was fitted to Triumph 2000 saloon MVE888H (mainly white) when I agreed to buy it and was due to be removed before this car was sold a week or so after my deal was completed.

'miles' is adamant that he has sent it and presumes it was lost in the post which I am chasing up as best I can but there is apparently no proof of postage. I am posting this with his agreement.

Could Forum members keep their eyes open in case it turns up on someone else's car or has similarly been misappropriated (incorrect delivery?). By now it may have been repainted the correct (?) black.

Keep an eye open at the National and pass the word around please - any help would be much appreciated. I will also be posting this request on the CT Forum and see if I can get something on the TR Register, TSSC or any other relevant Fora.

I have checked out the listing and it is definitely not the one I bought. See the pics attached of the engine with cover in place and the car in which the engine was fitted.

It is appreciated that people are taking the trouble to help me on this one even though it should not be necessary for me to have to ask and expect people to put themselves out like this.

I am sorry, but without proof of postage 'miles' has no leg to stand on.

if he can't prove he posted it, then im afraid its refund time.

A receipt for postage must have been obtained, if it was not kept, more fool him.

Im sorry to be blunt, but i'd have been round with a large stick / pointy thing by now

Lee and Owen I must say I am starting to think that way.

The rarity of the item, and trying to be a 'nice man' because it is with someone on the Forum, have made me hold back but there comes a time when your patience is exhausted.

Going round to see the guy won't work because I live about about 140 miles away - and it would appear he sometimes lives in East Anglia or something.

Hopefully you paid with something such as paypal? you can at least open a dispute and try to claim the funds back that way?

Unfortunately it is not that simple. I have checked the Paypal rules and although the goods were not bought off ebay it would appear that I could have started a dispute ......... if opened within 45 days.

However because I was trying to be helpful co-operative and trusting it is something like 60 days so I can do nothing through Paypal.

I think he possibly has posted the item but his method was obviously hopelessly inappropriate for something costing the equivalent of £260 and special, and I am the one expected to lose out.
