Hello all! just finished up the rear arch - wing.





Fitted a door and the gaps are good. A little distortion at the bottom corner, however there was substantial braze filling here, so I guess that's the way it is.



I've done the drivers floor, a piece in the boot and part of the inner arch above the suspension mount. This was a complete nightmare very much a wobble moment. Under the arch a helmet, gloves, clamps Mig welding torch the fabricated part and I told the cat he had to wait a minute. Anyway I will upload pictures as soon as. Been busy this weekend with the other sill, much the same as the other side.

Thanks for all the replies just got to keep the momentum up. Slightly harder now the good weather is here. The temptation to have a brew and sit back and look at what's to be done is rife!

It seems like you've got an awful lot of work to do there but I can see that you know what you're doing and it's looking good...

This is one very rare car so it's great so see it being saved!

very nice work indeed, as a panel beater to trade this is the minimum standard that should be applied in renovating a motor, keep up the good work....

As someone with no experience of any type of welding, I have been reading your posts with a great deal of interest (and admiration!!).
Haven't seen any recent posts of how you are progressing....any further developments with the P.I. restoration Ross?

Hello progress on the car has stalled due to the birth of my first child Angus who was born 2 weeks ago. Before his arrival I had to redecorate some rooms in the house. Now time is a little occupied with the little one, the day job and catching up on lost sleep. However I have completed repairs to the drivers side floor, small patch in the boot and the passenger side sill before his arrival but since then I haven't had the time to post the pictures. Anyway once he has settled down I will continue the restoration but I'm trying to save up for an English wheel so I can repair the front arch bowls and this going to take some practice. The repairs to the nearside rear arch are going to require a lot of attention, this is going to take time due to the rotten floor where the fuel pipes have gathered wet mud, rotting this area serverley . Once again thanks for the interest and I'll keep the updates coming.

Hello Ross,

consider a shrinker/ stretcher as that takes far less room and is also much cheaper, unless of course, if you are planning a lot of panel forming?

Here's a picture of a spare wheel patch panel I made for my MK 1 on such a device. Being face on it doesn't show the curvature too well but I was very pleased with how it formed, especially as I had not long bought the tool.

Yes, my congrats also! Your newborn (Angus) will be obviously be first on your list of activities, but hopefully your reborn (PI) will carry on not far behind!! Look forward to seeing further pics.

Um this pails my car bodywork into showroom condition. As in I thought mine was rough - at least I had something to work on - you only had dust.Maybe I'm being fussy. Nothing can take away the mammoth effort you have gone to there. I wouldn't know where to start.Top marks from a 2000 enthusiast,but I'm miles away from someone like you.
