Damn, I have been sussed!

I have to admit to having a "thing" for metros, particularly the sportier MG versions etc.

My dad had a succesion of Metros when I was growing up (double figures i think) before he got his first company car and I can still remember tearing about in his MG metro.

One of them had no key for the ignition barrel as it was stolen recoverd, so my dad installed a flick switch and push button, how cool! :D

A freind of mine owns a mint 1980 example, its completely original and has done 19000 miles.

I have to confess too a soft spot for the early Metro's too. A MG or GTA would be very nice

Hello,
Just realised that my 2006 February post and subsequent need an update  :
Since then, I own also :
55' TR2, 67' TR4Airs, 74' TR6, and more recently a 77' TVR Taimar 3000.
I now need a bigger garage :!:
Chris.

The fleet as it stands...

MK1 2000 a wee bit modified...
Dolomite 1300 a tad modified...
Spitfire MK IV project
Opel Manta 2.0 GT/J standard apart from the big valve head, high lift cam, tubular manifold, and carb.

Over the years I have had a "few" classics...

Manta's, Ascona's, Mk1 Cavaliers, Dolomites (all flavours) Fiat 127 Sport and 1300GT, X1/9's, Cortina's various, various Alfa Romeo's, Vauxhall Viva's, VW Camper, Marina SunTor. The list goes on, probably better asking my mates as my memory is fading!

I've never owned a Beetle or a Morris Minor!

Brand new cars I've owned, Fiat seicento sporting a great shopping trolley, Fiat Barchetta, under rated, and an Alfa 147 selespeed which was crap when it went wrong and rusty at 7 months old!

Keep going back to Triumphs though... Something to do with the Italian styling, simple mechanicals and of course the other thing inherited from Italy.

RUST!
1967 Triumph 2500
1971 Triumph Spitfire
1980 Triumph Dolomite
1981 Opel Manta

No Triumph 2000 yet. But it's something I'd like to rectify in the new year.

Current fleet consists of:

1977 Triumph TR7 V8 FHC. This is my 2nd TR7 and one I've owned since 2001. Started out as a 2.0 4 speed. Currently running LT77 5 speed with a 3.5 Rover V8 making around 220-230hp. Lots of other mods. Only the boot lid and doors remain stock pretty much.

1999 Camaro z28. Bought it about 4 years back. It's superb and I hope to keep it for a long time. Huge fun, very capable even in the bends and very fast. 160mph car and gets there quick. On the rollers it was making 358hp.

1991 Land Rover Discovery. Owned for nearly 6 years. Used off road and modded accordingly. A few engine mods too running about 150hp from a diesel and currently does about 20-22mpg!!

1978 Land Rover SIII pickup. Currently sitting in a field undergoing an engine swap. Will be my replacement trials vehicle once complete.

1993 Nissan 100NX. Surprisngly good fun. Bought as a commtuer vehicle last year. And should in the new year be making way for an R53 MINI Cooper S.

Past cars of interest:

Jaguar XJ-S V12
Land Rover 90 Tdi
MG F 1.8i
MG F 1.8 vvc
MGB GT
Nissan 200SX TURBO
1976 Triumph TR7 FHC
MG Maestro 2.0 EFI
BMW e30
