A friend has a S1 XJ6 and has a new programmable distributor on it. You use a laptop to set the advance curve (at about 10 discrete points) and the load it into the distributor. I helped him set his up. We used the book figures as a start and although we didn't go any further, it should be possible to then tweak individual points to optimise the advance curve 'cos as Tony says, the original curve was set for fuels long since unavailable.Steve G wrote:With the advent of the programmable distributors can you use the workshop manual advance curves to programme them or is is just a case of driving the car and setting it up ?
When I get around to the PI rebuild I shall be very tempted to go down this route. (Then I'd probably have a 41236 one spare Charles!)
Cheers,
Mike.
