Door hinge pins

#1 Post by Binny »

I currently have the doors of my car removed for spraying and have noticed that both the front door hinges are very wobbly.

Consequently I’m trying to source some new hinge pins but none seem to be available from the usual sources. Does anyone know of any supplier who has them in stock or even the dimensions?

I also suspect that I’ll have to sleeve the centre part of the hinge if I can actually get the existing pins out - I’ve made a removal tool but the 6 x 30mm flat bar I used is just bending under load so I’ll have to use something thicker!
Current fleet - 2.5 pi, Jaguar XJ Supersport, Rover 75 Tourer, Lambretta SX200 and Bultaco 350 Sherpa.

Chris Witor does supply them but is currently out of stock unfortunately.
As I would think it is a relatively frequently requested part, it may be worth contacting him about further supplies?

I am aware that the Austin / Morris 1800 / 2200 used the same hinge pin, so maybe another avenue to explore. I only know this because hinge pins for the Triumph 2000 were unavailable separately 'back in the day', and I found out about the Landcrab pins then which were identical and available individually.
Maybe other sister Triumph models used the same pin?

Hi Binny, I used 25x10 to shift my pins - ref my post on 'hinge pin removal tool' some time ago. You could double up on the 30x6 if that's all you have. The original part number associated with these pins is 607823 and I see they are listed on Robsport website - seems they were also used on the Dolomite and some other models. Worth a look, but as you said the center leaf will need bushing to give you the best result. Pete

Thanks for your reply, Pete.

I used your design to make my removal tool but had to work with what I had to hand. I’ll make another with thicker bar and more robust bar sections at each end.
