First trial run today. Good news is the clutch and gearbox works! Overdrive didn’t seem to want to engage but that can come later.
Once settled the engine runs a bit fast even with idle screw closed (although I don’t have the air-filter on yet). And under acceleration and deceleration I have some small back-fires, more like “chuffs” than bangs. Not sure if that is the timing, or related to my two “dribbling” injectors.
Anyway, it sails majestically and very comfortably when its not chuffing!

Re: First run out
2nd run out having bled the injectors - all spray and no dribble now. Tried to align the opening of the three air intakes and ensure they were closing well. Will get an air meter on them later.
Runs much better but still some misfires in lower gears. Runs great in 3rd & 4th! And the overdrive seems to tentatively kick in now so that might just be 20 years of lack of use.
Still revs too high once its been running for a while. Assume thats too much air going in but strange it doesnt rev high sooner?
Engine ate the old fan-belt (messy!) serves me right for using a spare of unknown age.
Temp guage not working yet, so I expect guage or sender is out of action.
Bottom radiator hose stone cold after a 20 minute run. Either (new) thermostat not opening yet, or radiator needed topping up (now done).
Front wheels aligned with a track-rite.
Getting closer! At least the interior looks mint now!

Re: First run out
Hi Simon,
Also check the voltage regulator as that feeds a nominal 10V to the fuel and temperature gauge. Try shorting the wire at the sender end to earth. I think that should make the gauge go to full scale.
Great new on it running. Setting the throttle butterflies can be a bit time consuming but I love the noise they make of full chat!
Cheers,
Mike.

Re: First run out
Thanks Mike, there is a good YouTube video on setting the throttle bodies (on a TR6). It made things a lot clearer for me.
