I've been rummaging through my spares, and it would appear that nos rocker arms part nos 109023 / 109024 have a oil hole on the top above the shaft, whereas 139896 / 139897 don't. I presume one superceeded the other? Looking at my used rockershafts, it seems there are two types, the main difference being the end pedestaI and the method of retaining the rockers etc on the shaft (one type has a mere split pin, the other has what I would describe as a 'cap'). I presume they are interchangable on the engines as a complete unit?

Yes, I would have thought that they were interchangable as well, and I noticed the difference in the rockers , all the newer stocks on offer have the oil drilling on the top.
I took some measurements at Rimmers request and it does look as if there is a dimensional difference affecting the amount of offset between the old and new parts.
I have left it with Rimmers now, telling them that I'm fitting the new parts anyway suitably shimmed into position on the shaft as best I can, as I really want to have the car back on the road

Hi Valencia
How did you get over your rocker arm problem? I have just ordered some new ones with brass bushes. Part nos. 109023X & 109024X.
I have the same problem. The angle is different. I hope to assemble it all and fit it on the head on Tuesday but first impressions, I am not sure it will work as the end of the arms may not sit directly over the top of the valve. My supplier assures me they are correct as many have been sold. Looking about there is a spacer set available which is the spring part number plus XK which has some bush type spacers. Maybe I need these? I’ll see how it all goes together on Tuesday.

Hi Johnfrancis,
I had to fit the rockers that Rimmers supplied, as no one else had nos types. As I said in my posting I shimmed them into a better position to make sure the push rods were running clear of the head casting and having a good coverage on the top of the valve stem, a compromise position really.
Anyway since then I have driven to the French alpes, Turin and the Italien lakes, as well as uk stuff. No problems at all.
It would be nice to have the originals but sometimes we have to make do. Oh, I didn't use special washers, they came in a mixed box from Lidl !
Cheers,
Michael.

Thanks for the update. It's always good to know when things work out - or indeed, I suppose, if they don't!
