Front strut top mount sealer strip

#1 Post by simon.williams » Thu Jun 05, 2025 6:26 am

Hi,

The top of the front strut needs a sealer strip where it bolts to the turret.

I can buy 10mm by 4mm butyl mastic (car window stuff) which looks like the best bet to me, but is there anything else I should be using?

Thank you

Hello,
What I use is plumber's putty. Or kitchen sink putty.
It is non hardening and the coulor is the same grey as original on our cars.

I have used Dum Dum previously for that purpose. It's none hardening and seals the top of the mounting against water ingress. It's been around for donkeys years, and available in tins. Roll out 3 sausage shapes to go round the top of the mount and fit! It's black in colour - doubt anyone will be looking at it once fitted!

Indeed, that is one inaccessible spot, can use neon pink if they make it. Thanks both
