Carpets

#1 Post by simon.williams » Sun Feb 09, 2025 6:19 pm

Hi, I’ve searched for what are the best fitting carpets, it looks like not many fit well. Mine are definitely too ratty to save. I saw a mention of Coverdales in the forum but going back a bit?

Thank you for any tips.

For what it's worth, in my opinion, you would be better trying to source a good set of used carpets, or even better, new old stock rather than any aftermarket carpets.
I have examined a lot of vehicles over the years, especially whilst doing Register valuations, and my opinion is that aftermarket carpets invariably are a poor fit, need trimming and a lot of faffing around to get them anything like a decent fit. The transmission tunnel carpet is probably one of the worst to get fitting properly, as is the rear carpet over the transmission tunnel.
The weave / tuft (there are two types on our Triumphs) is also often not like the original with aftermarket.
The other point is that certain pieces of the original carpet pieces have a firm rubberised backing, which gives them a fair amount of rigidity, but the aftermarket versions don't have this backing and are very 'limp' without it, which doesn't help their fit.
A bit of a all order and will you have to do a fair amount of searching, but I would not recommend any aftermarket carpets - only original (nos or used) wherever possible.
