Fog light fitting.

#1 Post by johnfrancis898 » Mon May 02, 2022 5:08 pm

I have just acquired a nice set of Lucas rectangular front fog lights. However I am unsure on how to fit them as I don’t really want to drill the bumper. There is a possibility that they could fit on the end of the chassis main box section but some sort of U shaped bracket May be needed. As far as wiring goes I have a relay system already in place but before I finish the wiring I need to get them fixed on the car. So just enquiring on if you have them how did you mount them on the car?

I assume John that they are Lucas Square 8's?
If so, there were a couple of different fittings - a fixed mounting often on the chrome backed version which I understand was intended to be mounted above the bumper on vehicles such as Fords etc, whereas the black plastic backed versions usually had an adjustable stud, and were intended to be fitted below the bumper, such as on our Triumphs. The lens can be turned round so that is the correct orientation depending on the mounting position.
They can be easily mounted below the bumper with a suitable 'L' shaped bracket utilising one of the front bumper bracket bolts on the chassis rail.
I have a selection of original lamp brackets - I'll check and see if any are suitable.

Thank you Johnydog they are as you have described. If you have anything please PM me otherwise I’ll get my ‘metal man’ to see if he can fabricate something.
