There are plenty of 175/R13 at Black Circles, including whitewall.

The 'J' type was not used on the Mk1 cars so it would have come from a Mk2 (or another type of car). (The gearbox number you state is a Mk1 number). These would have included the 2500/2.5 models and although they used an 840 TPM speedo (as opposed to the 1000 TPM in the 2000), the speedo pinion drive that can be changed to change the prop to cable ratio. It is easy to get to as it's just behind where the speedo cable comes out of the overdrive. Beware that oil will come out too!

Without checking the parts books, it is possible that you have a 'J' type from a 2500/2.5 that has a different speedo pinion. They are colour coded and it should be possible to find out which colour should be in which car.

It is also possible to change the drive gear on the 'J' type output shaft, again to change ratios, but you don't really want to go there as that involves quite a dismantling of the overdrive!

Cheers,
Mike.

Hi Mike
Thanks for the information, it now makes allot more sense and means i now have a focused area to investigate, when i get a chance i will remove the cable and see what the pinion is and also if i can see the drive gear to count the teeth on that.
I guess for now i will just have to get someone to follow me and i will make a note of exactly how far out it is for now.
I guess Rimmers or earl part might have parts
Many thanks
Grahame

Chris Witor will probably have the parts you need, and also has the knowledge and advice that you will need. He helped me sort my mish-mash of a speedo drive system when I changed my gearbox to o/d, and fitted a 3.45 diff with 15" wheels.

If you have a cell phone you can download an app for GPS reading speedo thingy.
