Period retro goodies to have on my P.I
Looking at the P.I tonight in the sun(yes it still looks a touch weathered even in the sun!)i would like to add a few period 1970s items to maybe make it stand out a little more its nice it has Lucas square 8s,and it has a nice period radio the webasto but what else would look nice on the car, either a period add on something that is true 1970s any ideas?
Have thought about adding some SAH bits to it aswell but i,am abit limited as to what is out there really.
Any ideas or thoughts don,t want to overload it with to much but just a few nice bits.

8-track music cartridge player. They were all the rage in the 70s. Ideally, you should have The Carpenters album that had the picture of the Ferrari Daytona on the sleeve as everyone had that one (luckily I can't recall the name of it, otherwise my street-cred would be blown entirely). Aerofoil things on the wiper arms to increase the pressure - that was another essential extra in the 70s.
Furry dice hanging from the interior mirror, maybe?.
Feu Orange air freshener? A roof rack, yellow headlight deflectors and a Townsend Thoresen or Sealink GB sticker to show you could afford a foreign motoring holiday

I'm not going to take the p*ss Dave.... not like some of them.....
But how about an anti static strap off the rear bumper (must have the downward facing arrowheads!), 'eyelids' on the headlights, a steering wheel glove, wide angle interior mirror held on with an elastic strap, a krooklok, maybe a luggage rack that clamps to the boot lid, and a sticker saying my other car is a ??????? How about a grill cover with press studs on it so that in the cold weather you could shut off part of the grill to get the radiator warmer (no, maybe that's a a bad idea....)
Maybe a tigers tail, to show that you have a tiger in your tank and use Esso petrol?
But on a serious note, maybe a set of mudflaps with the words 'Triumph' on them (that's my sensible suggestion!).

In addition to the 8 track, sunroof and front fogs; maybe rear fogs, gold minilites, recaro seats, Maserati/Harry Moss (Fiaam) triple air horns, paint it a non-standard colour............ and fit a stag engine (plus a few other odds and sods out of the BL parts bin)*?

Re: Period retro goodies to have on my P.I
Great ideas chaps.
Amazing thing is i actually have a pair of the yellow headlamp convertors which were in the glove box so i fitted them last night...
So it has the following
Full length Webasto
Lucas sqauare 8s and they work with the covers
Yellow headlamp convertors
I have the Essso Tiger in your tank original keyring
My radio is its original 1974 fitment, its a LW/MW only its a Javelin Europa and has a tape player but i think its a normal Tape not an 8 track, but its still nice and original and lights up green at night.
The things that i like that are appealing are
Period air horns,a couple of nice sticker like the GB one and a Feu orange is a must but they are pricey now at about £20!!!!!
A pair of Triumph rear mudflaps would be nice aswell.

How about some driving gloves!
I often wear all black leather ones in the Triumph and have a pair of string backed ones in the MG 1300 - it's all part of the experience of driving a classic!
And then when you park up, leave them on display on the passenger seat or centre console.
