Re: panel update
Tbh, I think that if the price for a wing was £250, you will still get people that will think that is too much. It would be interesting to know the number of confirmed orders so far, and how many more orders you would need to ensure that it doesn't leave you out of pocket Lloyd. Anyways, keep up the great work. I think we, as Triumph owners should be delighted that someone is going out of his way to get the wings and other panels re manufactured, as has been said before "our" cars are fast becoming relatively rare, and even more so if wings etc become unobtainable. Is the club able to help in any way, to order some wings and sell them to members in the future? Maybe at a small profit to pay for the storage? I know the TSSC are a richer club than ours, maybe they could be approached, with this idea? Just a thought.

Re: panel update
Interesting idea.
But, and I hate being negative,......
Where do we get the money from?
Who will organise the buying, selling etc for the club?
Where do we store them?
Any ideas?
Seriously, at the next board meeting I am going to ask the board to reconsider spares and the clubs involvement, as I am starting to feel our previous stance needs to be considered.
I don't know what we can do at this moment. We have no money and not enough volunteers to do the current jobs of the club, never mind taking on something new.
All ideas welcomed.

Re: panel update
Hi Alan,
Does the club any spare funds?
I would be happy to organise the buying and selling.
Again I would be happy to provide the storage, once we have moved house that is, which won't be until around May time.
Has anyone thought about approaching TSSC about this idea? I would have thought they have the funds and space to store the panels.

Re: panel update
Out stance has always been to support the traders who provide this function, but not to enter into any commercial business.
Anyone dealing with club funds or any business would need to become a board member or at least part of the committee.
We would not approach TSSC as they have made it clear they will not work with other clubs. They did a while ago, then launched a slick and expensive advertising campaign to poach members off the smaller clubs and offer very little in return.
It is an issue, as lloyd has said before. No parts, no cars, no club. But, we have to be very careful what we do, and how we do it.
Having said all that, we, along with Club Triumph supported and assisted the Spares Club founded by Ted Taylor as a way of trying to assist where we could with this issue. Very few members joined, even fewer we keen to offer their services, with the result that it folded last month.
This suggests to me that the majority of members don't want to have a spares side, so what can we do?
As for money, based on the above, would every member pay £10-£20 a year extra to fund this? Some would, the majority wouldn't, which puts us back to square one.

Re: panel update
£325 for a wing is peanuts,go try to get a front wing for a Mk1 Escort RS,Sport,Mexico or 1300E with the light flare?
Lloyd, you are doing a cracking job, please don't get disheartened, the 7/8 wing is definitely the way to go.
God forbid I should ever need them, but if I did,I would not hesitate to give your door a chap for them.
Thank you so much for all your efforts, very much appreciated.
Regards,
Bill.

Blimey Alan, that is a gloomy picture. Perhaps apathy will kill our cars, not the rust. I think its disgusting that other clubs can't/work together, after all, we have a common interest, maybe some models are more important that others.

Re: panel update
Sorry, trying not to be gloomy!
Most of the clubs do work well together, we have the standard triumph forum where all the clubs meet and work together, and the spares situation we are faced with is common.
The main difference is some larger clubs are run like a business with the aims on profit, which doesn't help.

Re: panel update
thanks for the kind words guys,
its not that im getting disheartened ( well mabe just a bit ), more frustration i guess, because i KNOW that if i dont succeed in getting these panels remanufactured, within less than 10 years our great cars will be gone !!!!!! yes there will be the odd few left that are at present in a1 condition, but 90% will have died, and that hurts me as my love for these bonkey ole car of ours is massive, dont ask me why, perhaps im bonkey too !!! no comments please
PLEASE dont think some of my postings are having a pop at owners that havent placed an order, as that is not the case, we are living in very hard financial times at the moment, and everyones budget / spare cash is different to others, paying the mortage and bills far outway buying a panel for your trumbie !!!
i have recieved nothing but good wishes and offers of help on this panel quest, and the owners that have mentioned about the price being too high, were not complaining, just simply saying it was out of thier reach for now and also putting accross the value of the car offset against the price of say buying 2 or more panels for said car. the values of our cars has from what i can see, risen by nearly 100% over the last 2-3 years, and once panels are available will simply rise even more !?
i will go and see the other manufacture and see what they say as they can do the 7/8 wings also, and are keen for my custom, which is a refreshing change believe it or not !!!!
as for the register getting involved in this or spares, i echo alans comments, if no one steps up to the plate to offer thier services, how will anything be done ?
i must be honest, i really do fear for the registers survival, something needs to change, dont ask me what or how as i dont know, i dont do politics nor do i want to, all i do know is, everyone sues everyone these days at the drop of a hat, over the most trivial of matters, ensuring people / clubs wont get involved in anything for fear of the afore mentioned, the world is a sad place to live sometimes, bring back the good ole days i say, oh and capital punishment !!!
thats all for now folks !!

Yes, I echo your thoughts too Lloyd, concerning the long term future of this club. Unfortunately our cars seem to attract the more mature gentlemen, and we ain't getting any younger. We will just have to see what happens, maybe a merger with another club, like the Dolomite Club, who knows.
