#1 Post by TedTaylor »

Mayday Mayday VERY URGENT estate tank required for the Round Britain Reliability Run
Our tank has been found to have a pinhole right by the drain plug and doubt we can repair it in the time scale we have. Is there anyone with a sound tank we can beg borrow or steal please (I have got spare saloon tanks but no good in an estate ........ ).
If not too far away can collect today/tomorrow. 01594 832992

Many thanks for the offer Mike, much appreciated. However as Alan says our reveered President came up with the goods and has loaned me a tank for a few weeks - even met me half way at Swindon with it. :D

Got quite good at swapping tanks with all the practice we have had - now to fitting the new windscreen which we had planned to do today and something I am not looking forward to as a complete novice with the big saloon screens :(

Glad you have the tank sorted Ted. I have (at least) 3 in the shed, but all of unknown quality.

Fitting windscreen is relatively easy. Fitting trim is not! Certainly, if done by the book.

Mind you, you don't need the trim for the RBRR....

Cheers,
Mike.

Neither my PI or 2000 currently have the trims in place. It's easier to fix any seal leaks that way - well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

See you Sunday in Didcot...

Good luck! :D

Cheers,
Mike.

Well screen in, and with the time available we took the easy route and left off the trim to sort later. I also ran my Mk1 saloon in the 1990s without the trim so glad to know I am in good company with you.
