Hello Bigsix,

a fairly straight forward, if a bit fiddly, process.

Run the tank as empty as possible as the outlet pipe needs to be unscrewed from the bottom of the tank.
Remove the trim in the boot covering the tank and disconnect the sender cables. Unscrew the clips that hold the fuel filler pipe. There are also other breather pipes which have spring clips and need a good pair of pliers to grip and slide them out the way. As it is a long time ago, I cannot remember if it is easier or even necessary to remove the trim behind the back seat to access these breather pipes. (That will be evident once you have the boot trim removed) Once all the pipes are disconnected there are two bolts each side of the tank, unscrew those (their nuts are captive) and slide the tank out.

Alec
Good luck with undoing the supply union, its a nightmare to do as petrol runs down your arm!,and its screwed into the tank as normal, but when you look under the car i think its a bit tricky to get to as there is a gap between the tank and body which makes it difficult to unscrew,as Alec said its a bit tricky but not to hard, but get the tank as empty as possible but draining it at this unioun,DON,T run it dry but leaving it running,as all the muck will get sucked up,get it down to the fuel light on,then drain the rest into a boil etc, look at the amount of crap that comes out at the end!
Good luck,let us know!!
