Having served on the board of directors for almost 20 years now, I've not heard of anything like this.

Hi iam up for putting some money in to the kitty and have put the feelers out for storage space just waiting to hear back , I could store one outside if it came to that as mine lived outside for 6months and the farmer who owns my unit didn't say anything . Hope this can work and save these cars ive had mine on the road since July and do enjoy the car totally different to the herald Pete :D

I would be up to help this, but can`t help with storage as never have enough room as is, Might be able to help with money but depends on what i have at the time.
I might be better off offering my time helping with the cars themself

On another note, reading these posts i would like to point out that when Ted Taylor says his rebuild has cost in the region of £3000, That that is double what i charged him and i spent over 170 hours welding and making good

Yes Andy did me an excellent deal - the extra was the cost of accumulating panels over 15 years and lots of additional costs that I accumulated. Would suggest Andy anytime for body work.

Well, as my posting suggests, one can ignore the issue and then say (probably truthfully) that it's not something known to have been raised.

I raised the issue once at a National and whenever I bumped into anyone with connections or who I thought might have had influence. It might even be, and probably is, more than 20 years ago. The reply I always was given was that "Chris Witor looks after parts" and "It's not something we think the club should get involved in". With such negative outlooks I never ever bothered to attend another National (and never will).

Now, I know that one person would not be able to keep on top of this and I've been correct. The Stag Owners Club took a totally different view and clearly knew that factory support would decline quickly and that they - as a club - would need to do something about it. They did so and because they did the SOC is a much stronger entity than the Register (more members even though car production total was underwhelming).

This was all before the internet but now that this medium can reach anyone who wants to be included in the loop, one is able to document issues better and for everyone to know they have been raised and the response to them. The response I got back then, those twenty odd years ago is still happening at committee level if recent posts to the forum indicate. Whenever someone has asked why we do not get involved more in parts re-production it has (from my reading of the posts) been batted away with evey excuse under the sun. Because it is such an important issue we have had a trio of members try to do something more positive on this aspect and another individual do some superb work on part panel (repair) section production. This should have been under the umbrella of the club so that finance, supplier(s), storage and such could be done in a much less ad hoc way.

The SOC spun off a supplier to enable parts to be easily available. This supplier now also stocks bits for cars other than Stags (Spitfire/GT6 etc.) They could have included parts for our models if we had had the nous to negotiate and probably just be involved in raising the finance for the projects/tooling for reproducing the needed parts. It was certainly an easier avenue to achieve an end result if our club did not wish to get involved in raising limited/unlimited companies to provide the services.

It's all good ideas, but who is going to do them?
We are struggling as we don't have enough volunteers to run the club with the posts we have vacant, without trying to do more, we just don't have the manpower.
As for limited company structure this was done to protect the members running the club. I love the register but was not prepared to take the risk of being sued for my house incase something went wrong, hence the need to be limited by guarantee as we are now.
It's disappointing that a comment made 20 years ago by someone has prevented you from supporting our club, I'm sure you'll find things have changed in the intervening years.
Perhaps you would like to put a proposal together for funding such an operation and then volunteer to come and run it for us, this is what we need.
However, being as we are still at zero interest for a new regalia officer that we have advertised twice for, this will get an equal null reaction?
Sorry, not being negative bit realistic. As a club run by volunteers in their spare time and at usually great personal financial cost, I don't see how we could do such a thing.

No-one volunteered to be regalia officer yet?
If no-one else wants to do it I could, although I'm probably not the best candidate as I'm a self confessed disorganised mess and I don't go to shows very often (hence I haven't stuck my hand up already).

alan,

kinda agree with you on this one to a certain extent, but fuzzy started the ball rolling, i rolled it some more and hopefully others will roll it even further.

sometimes you have to think outside the box and just go with something and see where it ends.

logistics i agree will be a challange, but if enough people offer thier help, who knows ???

something has to be done, or there wont be any cars left in 10-15 years time.
