Blatant cross post from CT - these mounts are apparently indestructible in extremis so should be good for anyone having longevity issues. Not sure about noise and vibration but broken mounts are a lot noisier.

As an aside to this issue of engine mounts, including the rear (gearbox) mount, has any one ever experimented with an engine stabiliser bar mounted to the top of the engine perhaps to the strut tower?
These are quite common on transverse engine installations, minis had them I'm sure and certainly my old Lancia Dedra Turbo had a very beefy item. The engine mounts seem to fail due to the torque reaction twist of the engine, if you can eliminate or control that, the mounts would have a much easier time.

They do look to be of good quality, but very expensive at over £100 for two engine mounts.
Personally, I would have to try these first at around 20% of the cost of the above.

They look to be approx. the same size as 'ours', I haven't checked though. One difference is the M8 stud instead of the 5/16 UNF, but thats no great issue.
I have a feeling I have used something similar to these in the past, a mate used to be a service engineer for Lansing Bagnall, they were used as electric motor mounts on forklift trucks.
They also used a very similar steering shaft (rack to column) if you were brave enough to shorten & re-weld it

Fair point re. Price - I was only really suggesting these if the standard ones aren't lasting. I have found mine broken countless times on my white 2.5 PI but they last well otherwise as long as you keep oil off them

I agree, Andy. Oil contamination is the big killer for Metalastik engine mountings, and the biggest casualty on our cars is the gearbox cross-member mounting as any oil leak gets blown back on to it, and generally speaking, out of sight, out of mind !
Some type of oil-proof cross-member mounting would be good.

Hi Bill, my mates name is Frank Chisnall, he worked though most of the '80's & early '90's at Regentruck in Wigan, a subsiduary of Lansings. He also had a couple of mk2 2000's at that time, an early brown M reg facelift auto, then a mint white L reg PFL man o/d. Thats how he recognised the bits we are talking about. Talking to him yesterday, he reckons thoe two FLT's will be collectors items now

Hi Dave,probably met the guy,been at both Regentruck depots,St.StephensWay(up past the slaughter house I think) and more frequently at Frog Lane. Absolutely cracking place!
Believe it or not,we have both models in the depot still!!(one in the showroom)
Who says we're behind the times up here?

They look identical to the one I got from Rimmer's. I think the one from Rimmer's has a metric stud too! I had to go hunting round the bottom of my tool box to find an appropriate nut as the nylocks from my pot of UNF nuts wouldn't thread.http://www.vibration-mounts.co.uk/ViewI ... 95Kg-M8-39
