Someone recommended to me to use "Fairy Power Spray" - or similar instead of Gunk. I've not tried it (but I have used "truckwash" to degrease the engine). Apparently, it is a much stronger detergent than Gunk and the spray bottle penetrates better. Just spray it on and rinse it off. Probably best to buy a bottle for the garage, rather than nicking one from the kitchen.
Gunk has a much nicer smell, though...

Depending on how big things are, I use my parts washer! I made it just big enough to take a big saloon block down flat. The fun is getting the block in and out of the parts washer! I have a block and tackle rigged up above it to help.
Cheers,
Mike.

Hello Freinds
Ive been busy today. Ive droped the engine out through the bottom with the auto box still attached. Lift the the car up using a hoist. Then started out on the rear end. First disconnect the half shafts from the diff and swing arm. then dropped the swing arm followed by the diff beam onto the floor and the slid it out. The hardest job was getting the slotted screws out of the brake drums siezed in. Ended up drilling them out.
Also found that both sills want replaceing. OH well.

Hi Lee
Nice to see the car getting the attention it deserved. Glad to see that you haven't had to break her - I am sure you'll get a wing at some point. Glad you ended up taking the rest of the panels. Sorry to hear she needs new sills too, I always thought that they weren't too bad, but guess I was wrong.
Cheers
Andy

Ah -- a Mk 2 facelift PI. My favourite Big Saloon.
You'd better keep an eye on me tomorrow Lee just to make sure I don't make off with it when your back's turned

Hello Friends
The Body is back from the blasters and now the work starts. No major holes. Both sills gone, and just a few pin holes to fill in. Just the dents to sort out.
