Hi,
I have recently purchased a 1978 Triumph 2500S and the Bonnet Support Arm bracket on the bonnet is a bit of a mess. Would anybody have any ideas on upgrading this bracket.

Re: Bonnet Support Arm.
Hello,
could you post a picture of the support arm assembly so we can see what the damage is. Corrosion and fatigue through the metal flexing are usually the main issues with the bonnet support. Mine pulled itself off the bonnet after many years so it was a case of more substantial welding when I repaired it, factory spot welds don't seem to be sufficient. Perhaps another member can confirm how the connection to the bonnets were made originaly, does the T-shaped bracket that the arm hinges get spot welded to the surface or does it sit inside/behind the strenghthening section ?

Re: Bonnet Support Arm.
I've got this same issue and hope we can sort it between us. Thanks Valencia for your input. Will also e-mail the SOC tech guru and see if they have any thoughts on this.

Re: Bonnet Support Arm.
One other contributing aspect for the damage was that the 2000 bonnet in its open position leaned a lot further forward than was really necessary, which put unnecessary strain on the stay mounting, especially in windy conditions! The Stag bonnet remained a lot more vertical in its opened position, which reduced the strain on the stay mounting.
I do know of members that have shortened the stay or have cut out an additional 'stop' for the existing stay to allow the bonnet to rest more in a vertical position.
