Paint

#1 Post by Rob H » Mon Mar 07, 2022 6:25 am

Hi all from South Australia. I have just come into posssession of a 1976 TC automatic which I
hope to have on the road shortly. I am trying to determine its color. I'm told its a Willow Green
but cannot find out anything about it. So if anyone has any clues I'd be grateful. I also have a white 1969 Mk1 which is my favorite and a 1974 TC with overdrive.
Cheers everyone and if your ever in the Barossa Valley feel free to let me know.

Hi Rob, hope you have a great time with the Triumph, I really enjoy driving mine.

Rimmers have a paint code chart, if this is any help https://rimmerbros.com/c/Triumph-Paint-Chart

Paints used by Triumph in the UK won't really help unfortunately.
AMI ( Australian Motor Industries) who assembled Australian Triumphs used different colour schemes than the UK, and also certain aspects of the trim were totally different.
I have found reference to Willow Green, but only for UK Triumphs between 1960-1967 (GN33), and Jags (1688 and 404).
Is there not a paint no. on the chassis / VIN plate?
I'd try contacting an Australian paint supplier, such as varietypaints.au whom I'm sure will be able to clarify the shade for you. I usually use one of the front door check straps for reference - they have not been exposed to much sunlight, and are far likely to be the original paint than other removeable parts on the car.

Didn't they use a Japanese paint code (Toyota maybe).
