Seat Belts

#1 Post by Sal » Mon Aug 30, 2021 8:21 pm

Hello there,

I have recently bought a 1966 MK1 2000 with no seat belts, I think the guy previously did some hill climbing or rallying in it.

It is a conifer green with a white roof and red interior. I’m not sure what colour they should be (maybe all the same whatever the interior colour) however I need a set so if anyone could help that would be great.

Thanks in advance
Sal

My recollection is a car of 1966 era would have had light grey seat belts, irrespective of interior colour.

Mine's got the original grey belts in the front.
There were none in the back. Somewhere I've got a pair of grey belts for the rear, salvaged from a previous car I broke, but until they turn up I've got standard black.

Interesting

Does the mark 1 have the bolt threads in place to fit rear seatbelts or do you have to drill holes in the correct places to fit?

All saloon cars have the three point holes in the shell. The estate only has the two lower ones for lap belts. The top one is in the back corner of the parcel shelf and the bottom ones are under the seat base and all are pretty obvious!

Great, what fantastic forward thinking for those non seatbelt wearing 60’s chaps!
