Door and windcsreen rubbers
Whenever I have done a door rubber, I have put the slightest smear of red rubber grease on the section that goes in the door channel. Starting at the top 90 degree corner (a lot easier with an original rubber with the corner moulded in for a positioning guide), with the help of a very thin narrow bladed screwdriver positioned at a very shallow angle, I feed one side into the channel in sections, whilst using the screwdriver as above, and the other side of the lip glides into the channel relatively easily. I stop every 6 " or so, to let the rubber retain its natural length as pressing on it can stretch it ever so slightly. The softer rubber repro versions are even more prone to stretching if you try to do too longer sections without letting it regain it's natural shape/ length.

Hi All
photos show CW door rubbers.
Bit fiddly to install but went on well finally once you master the technique using the "magic" install tool I made see pics
Old industrial hacksaw blade and paper tape handle. It's critical to get the edge nice and smooth so it won't cut the harder rubber base of the molding.
Used plain water as a lubricant as I didn't want soapy residues to promote rust later on.
each door requires one join at the right angle corner of the door. I used CA (we call it super glue) works quite well but proper rubber cement is recommended.
The profile is indeed different to original but works really well all doors are sealed and close superbly
Cheers

Re: Door and windcsreen rubbers
gday all
I finally went for CW rubbers all round and i am very pleased with the quality and fit.
The door seals are a different profile to original but work really well
Not easy to put on but once you've mastered the technique not too bad . First door took 2hours , second 1.5, third 1 and the last 45 mins.
I made my own tool from an old industrila hacksaw blade but any piece of steel 2.5-3mm thick will do. see pics
hopefully the site will let me post 2 pics at once
cheers

Re: Door and windcsreen rubbers
here is the finished result, the edges were glued with CA (we call it superglue) otherwise cyanoacrylate.
Use plenty of plain water to ease the rubber base in and work in small increments. It helps uf you have already cleaned out any debris in the channel from the previous rubber.
cheers

Re: Door and windcsreen rubbers
I would be interested to hear how Ian 3781 got on with replacement door seals and which supplier he used were they any good? My drivers side one is split at the front top corner and whistling when on the move, And no I don't recognise the tune before anybody asks, Lol. Regards, Keith.
