It has been two months since i replaced the original AC Delco pump (with the glass bowl) with a pump from Powertune brand. This pump 'emulates' the pump that some MK2s had.
Couple of days ago as i walked in the garage, an awful smell of gas caught me, only to realize that the whole front section of the floor was covered with petrol, leaking from my brand new fuel pump. The feeling is strange when you come to think that the original Delco pump lasted 56 years and when it was removed it did not even had leaks, and the new pump lasted two months.
I disassembled the pump, the diaphragm was ok, and i noticed that the upper rubber gasket was torn - see pics.
I also noticed that the diameter of this rubber gasket was slightly larger than the diameter of the cover which made it more difficult to refit the gasket when assembling.
Tightened the upper screw and stopped severe leaks - initially it leaked two drops per second on the ground.
Now after a day i just notice a couple of drops on the pump itself none on the ground, nothing as serious as in the former case.
Does anyone by any chance know how to find a similar gasket for this pump? Do we have a part number/sizes in order to ask?

I have kept the original. The reason i did not get a kit for it is that i was informed that if the issue is located in the valves, the valves from the service kit do not fit as they should. If it is the diaphragm, then it can be repaired.
I did not want to gamble so i bought a new pump (only to realize that i was still gambling with this decision as the aftermath proved to me. . .)
Eventually, i ordered a service kit for the old pump and hope that IF it had any issue, this had to be in its diaphragm. (the issue was that it produced bubbles, and a noise) I will have to be extra careful when dismantling though, and avoid breaking the glass bowl as it is stuck with the body of the pump!

The glass bowls on the original pump were pretty robust, and I suspect it will only be stuck to the rubber seal in the body. A sharp tap with a small leather / rubber hammer will free it without damaging or breaking the bowl. Even if it did break, then I have spare bowls from pumps I've dismantled over the years!
