Hi, I have a 2000 of the same age. I am sure that you will get lots of advice but my nylon fuel pipe is original. The big trouble are the rubber connecting ends which either go hard or perish and / or crack. I am pretty sure that these will need replacing. Most are accesible from the engine bay apart from the one connecting to the fuel tank which will require you to go under the rear of the car to get to it. In the late 70s I went on holiday for a week leaving the car in the garage. When I came back I had lost the entire content of the fuel tank which was down to a split rear connection. How it didn't catch fire and burn the house down I will never know especially as the gas boiler was in the garage. It smelt a bit though!

Hi, my fuel line from the tank to the pump is also the original nylon and still serviceable, all the others have been replaced with rubber fuel hose which is widely available. I also used the proper small hose clips not worm drive. Also the steel pipe that runs alongside the engine is original, still ok.

Lovely looking car! I would recommend that you replace the rubber sections of the fuel line, but leave the plastic section since this does not deteriorate like the rubber. You will have one at the bottom of the tank to the plastic pipe, one from pipe to fuel pump, 5/16" ID; one from fuel pump to metal car feed pipe one from the feed pipe to the carb metal pipe section, and one each from this to each carb 1/4" ID. These are all just push fit. Make sure the rubber pipe you use is new unleaded and ethanol compatible.

I agree - there is no need to replace the original plastic fuel pipe - just replace the rubber sections.
Depending on how long the car has been standing for, once you have drained the tank by undoing the union at the bottom of the tank accessed from underneath, I would be tempted to flush a couple of gallons into it just to remove any sediment etc.
When the pipe is disconnected from the tank, and the carbs, I would also be tempted to blast some air through the pipe just to remove any small pieces of disintegrated rubber hose that may have found its way in - you don't want them getting into the carbs which may cause you future problems.
It's probably not that long since it has run, but I recommissioned a Mk1 that had stood for 25 years with its original leaded fuel in it. The front to back metal fuel pipe was total gummed up with the reminents of the old fuel which resembled a hard wax like substance. It was easier then to just replace the pipe with plastic fuel pipe.

After reading all the posts on this topic, I decided to have look at my car, especially as it has a long trip to the National coming up. All the 'under bonnet' rubber fuel hoses have been renewed fairly recently, but not the one from the tank outlet to the nylon fuel line. I was pleasantly surprised to find that instead of rubber, there was a short piece of pvc fuel hose (as below) connecting the tank to the nylon line. It looks like a factory fit, and I am happy to leave it alone. Its a January 1970 car, so you may have similar on yours.
