Alan C.................

along with myself you can put Dave Harvey down ( well he is coming with us) for car park duties and also brother in law but his MK2 PI is going on the Register Stand, so not sure if he will be able to assist.

The best I can offer is a "I'll let you know nearer the time"

I will be there so if you need me, I am available.
I am hitching a lift from Daren sharp who has his car on a stand so I'll be there for 8am.
I'll bring a high viz jacket in case you need me.

See you all Sunday :D

WOW, what a fantastic day at Gaydon. Numerous Triumphs, (1500?) great weather, and I sold £200 worth of spares from the back of my car :D . Must have been about a dozen "big six" estates, and another 40+ saloons. One estate in particular stood out for me, and that was a primrose yellow mk2 one, a guy from Leicestershire way, (Phill?), which was just lovely. Also, there was a very nice dark blue mk2 estate with a webasto, gorgeous. Sadly no photo's, I only had my "old" camera with me, no doubt someone will upload some pics later. Loads of Stags and TR's  some very nice dollys, even saw my old red Toledo, looking very nice too. But the stand out car for me was a blue and white Herald Coupe, a complete shed of a car, but with a current MOT and tax. It really did look beyond road worthy, the bottom 3 inches of the doors were rusted through, rust here there and everywhere, brilliant, he should have parked it next to all the stag owners who were furiously polishing there cars    .

Well said badger, couldn’t agree more especially the Herald Coupe; great day and so many great cars.

We had an eventful journey home to Kent. I had to swing by High Wycombe to collect a recent eBay purchase (70s B&D workmate, with cast alloy frame – wonderful condition and well worth my £25!). As we were heading out of High Wycombe the car suddenly lost power. We were in traffic with the electric fan cutting in and out and I wondered if the fuel was vapourising because of the high temperature under the bonnet. I thought it might clear if I could get some speed up and get some air flow but I could barely get up small hills in first gear, and the water & oil temp were climbing. So, I found a quiet, shady side road and popped the bonnet. After checking oil, water, the coil, sparks, fuel supply, rocker operation, etc., I decided the main jet/feed pipe on the rear carb must be blocked, so set about removing the carbs and cleaning the float chamber, feed pipe sat on the curb by the side of the road. It was less than ideal conditions under the conifer trees with the whole area covered with leaves, twigs, etc. Anyway, I got it all back together and it’s running fine now. I am a bit surprised by the “stuff” I found in the bottom of the float chamber; a kind of jelly substance. I guess it would be sensible to clean the tank, replace the filter and check the float chambers from time to time.

All’s well that end well, as they say, and once underway I thought how lucky I’d been; lucky because:
1. It was day light
2. The weather was fantastic and not raining as forecast
3. I’d equipped the car with a good “Triumph” tool kit (must add WD40 and surgical gloves!)
4. There was a McDs a few minutes away so my missus could keep me in coffee
5. My missus was willing to do the said coffee runs
6. AND, my car had SUs and not injection cos I wouldn’t have had a Scooby!
