G'day from Adelaide

#1 Post by Llessur » Tue Jul 05, 2016 12:48 am

G'day all,

Just wanted to say hello. Currently in Adelaide, South Australia - moved from Brighton, UK back in 2012. Have been Triumph-less for a few years now but on the weekend I agreed to buy a solid but slightly tatty 1977 2500. It has very little significant rust - boot lid has rusted through in a corner but that can be replaced, one of the outriggers needs a patch and there's a very small (5c coin) hole in the front of one of the sills, but other than that the rest is light surface rust. Body looks to be totally original - doesn't seem to have been welded in the past. Interior is present and correct but needs some tidying. Good engine but needs a new gearbox due to worn layshaft (I have one lined up). Should be a very rewarding project.

Am new to the world of the big saloons but not to Triumphs - back in the UK I had a Spit 1500 which I ended up converting to a Spit6/Gitfire. A lot of fun which I was very sad to have to sell when we emigrated.

Not sure exactly when I'll be able to collect it - hopefully some point over the next few weeks.

Will keep you posted.

Russell

Lots of bits

Cheers Tony - had already decided that rust-free classics were one of the best parts about living in Oz!

Cheers Jeremy, will definitely get some pictures up when I get the beast home. Plenty for me to be getting on with but I was looking for a project!

PS You're not the same Jeremy I have been talking to about the Stag wheels by any chance are you?
