Ah, yes I remember the car - a lad called Chris Manville from Nelson. He wasn't active at all in the Register, and his membership may have even lapsed. He bought the engine and box from me; it was from a late 2500S estate - a superb engine and box as well! He bought a lot of trim, and as it was a Mk1, a few components to marry up with the later engine.
I'm surprised after all the effort he put into it that he disposed of it that soon!
Good luck with it Lee!

Hi John

yes Chris was the guy I bought it from...........
He had the car 5 years but due to other commitments was not using it much and it as stood for the past year, so that why is he decided to part with it, but very reluctantly.
He said he as ploughed a bit of money into it in his ownership and said the car went well.

I am hoping to get it running this weekend once I have fitted a battery and put fresh fuel in it.

I'm sure if you had been facing in the right direction Lee, you would have smelt the kettle!!
You were only about 3 miles from ours (if you collected from his home address) had you fancied a brew...!!

Hi John

if I had known we where that close I would have popped in for a cuppa as it was damn cold on that hill at Nelson. However, my mate and I where on a time schedule as we were hoping to pickup a MK2 PI afterwards from Great Yarmouth but this did not happem until the Sunday due to other issues.

Thanks for the offer anyway.

PS was the gearbox from the same S estate?.

Hi Lee,
Yes, the gearbox was from the same 2500S. Both engine and box had been overhauled as I remember, but I did drive the car before I scrapped it, and they were excellent. I do recollect Chris may have done some swapping of overdrive units possibly? But I'd give him a ring - he seemed an alright sort of a bloke.... Can't vouch for what may have happened to them since however!

Bill.

Cheers Bill

it is going to Stoneleigh on Dave Lucas stand..................
The car fits well into Dave's "rat-look" criteria. :)
