I would use the original Strombergs over the SU's any day. I much better built carb. BUT triple Webers......... nice, if you can stomach 8mpg!!

Thanks for your comment Charles re SUs/strombergs. To be fair, the webers ,as fitted on my TR5 usually average 22-23mpg on a run. Hopefully that would be the marker in this application,
cheers,
Laurence

All,
its been a while since i last updated you of progress with the above, mainly because not a lot has happened!.
In the last week i started to return some of the shiny bits back to the repainted body tub, essentially the stainless steel trim pieces around the doors ,rear window, boot and rear wings. One job that i wasn't looking forward too was the refitting of the door seals, in the event this proved relatively painless,-it may have helped that said seals came from the donor car and were in pretty good order. The furflex went back on ok and a start has been made on the window seals. The bushes/nuts/bolts/springs/shocks for the back end of the car have now arrived from CW so we can now strip and replace with the reconditioned M Papworth diff, drive shafts etc.
In the meantime work is ongoing with the donor 2.5 engine, the final spec, however, is yet to be decided.
I will endeavour to add some photos to illustrate work done this week.
Any observations/comments always appreciated,
cheers,
Laurence

Bill,

I believe Lawrence may do ( as per his other cars), as this car is being built for RBRR, 10CR events and will get some stick!!!!!

Correct Lawrence?.

spot on Lee. Sorry Bill, much as i like a standard mk1, and i remember seeing your Devon registered car at Stoneleigh, i do like a few subtleish modifications including the debumpered look. As Lee touched on both my TR6,( now sold) and TR5 run without bumpers. All being well my project car will be ready for the national event in July and will be entered to do the CT 10CR in Sept, should be interesting,
cheers,
Laurence
