After completing a successful tour of the UK with Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run, we put up a note on the RBRR Banter FaceBook page, saying car for sale, expecting that it would take 4-6 months to sell in the spring of next year, when low and behold another RBRR entrant arranged to meet up the following morning to view. It was bought and paid for the same day.

So I’m 2000-less now, but will be looking for a replacement soonish as I miss Rusty Custard already - perhaps sell the Stag and get a big Trummy - they get under your skin don’t they?

And I've been very happy with it as well Chris. :)

I've already been using it a few days a week and it drives very well. Modifications so far include a full Pi dashboard, Lowered springs all round, gas rear shocks, a front anti roll bar and a decent set of spotlights on the front. (I've also changed the crankshaft pulley as well as it had a 2000 one on instead of a 2500 one)

Next on the list is an electric fuel pump and to sort some of the wiring out. (Been having a few problems with the indicators packing up and keep blowing fuses)

Oh yeah, and I've fitted a set of Minilite type wheels and sold those awful MGB Rostyles.

Impressed with the amount of history that came with the car as well. Did you spot the original sales invoice that showed that the woman who bought it brand new traded in a 1964 Mk1 Cortina 2 door 1200cc de lux against it? I've never seen such a comprehensive history file for a car.

1971 Mk2 2.5 Saloon.

Yes I went through the history file it’s amazing.

Pleased to hear that you are adding improvements already. We had no problems with the indicators during our ownership, so that’s something new. The rear springs were 2.5 Estate springs, they rode great with a boot full of spares and tools, but I imagine it would ride high when the boot was empty. The fuel pump is new, fitted by me earlier this year.

The 14” Ro-styles were out of the back of Martin’s garage and cost us nothing. It had original 13” rims on it when we bought it. Can you post or send me some pics of what she looks like now?

The plan was always to get us around Britain, but we never expected to sell her so quickly, so we didn’t get to play with her after the run - I envy you.

Let me know if you ever want to let her go.
