hi all
just putting new UJ's in the half shafts and found this, see pic, someone has added a grease nipple to the inner shaft.
Any opinions on putting it back like this or blanking it off.
Cheers

Re: half shaft mod
It seems a reasonable idea in principle. Although access to it may be restricted with the hard plastic dirt cone without undoing one end of the rubber gaitor to slide it back, and then sliding the cone back, unless of course you can get to the nipple using a grease gun with a flexible wand.
The only other consideration is what type of grease do you put on the splines of your drive shafts?
My grease gun is loaded with a LM type / multipurpose grease for lubricating UJ's, but I use a different grease on the drive shaft splines. My personal preference is CV joint grease for the drive shaft splines - this of course would necessitate having two grease guns.....

Re: half shaft mod
Hi johnnydog
a square hole was cut in the boot to allow access.
I've decided to block it off with a bolt as the grease pumped in just seems to fly out and make a mess.
Since both sides are worn I'll have to replace them anyway, so I'll just grease them liberally with a good heavy grease and save up for the new ones.
Over here there expensive.
