Is it possible to fit a complete gearbox with overdrive to a 2000 mk1 in place of the standard 4 speed.
I assume that the overdrive takes the place of the rear gearbox extension piece on the standard 4 speed, was thinking of getting one from rimmer brothers if they have one.
Overdrive for a 2000 Mk 1

Hi Roscoe Yes it is basically a straight forward swap, I have done plenty.
You will need different length spacer tubes depending on what type of overdrive box you intend fitting. Some types are compatible with Automatic tubes not sure which though.
The biggest expense will be the overdrive column switch if you don't go for the MK2 gear lever which incorporates the switch.

A Type fits direct to the bodyshell, no spacers required. J Type requires spacers, CW sells them I think they are longer than the auto gearbox ones.
