Mike Stevens - where are you
As you love questions - here is another
So since getting KNG up and running again, amongst other slightly bigger issues, there are smaller ones .... like the luggage area light remains 'on' constantly, hatch open or shut. I have had to remove the bulb to break the circuit.
I assumed to be looking for the plunger type connection, which depresses to shut the bulb off when hatch (Estate) is closed. Ummm.... where is that ? I am not seeing it.

Re: Estate luggage area light issue
Never having had an estate......the parts book states the estate courtesy light has two switches 606239, (it states estate only) which to me look like the rear door switches on the saloon. I don't ever recollect having seen switches in the tailgate aperture on the estate, so are they concealed in the plastic hinge cover and operated by movement of the hinges contacting the switches? I would however suspect that the load area courtesy light is powered on the same circuit as the rear door switches, but the rear tailgate interior light is possibly switched on manually, as I thought some estate models had a switch on the side of the rearmost courtesy light?
Ideally an estate owner may be able to shed more info on this?

Re: Estate luggage area light issue
The switch is on the hinge assembly just visable peering through the white plastic cover. Unscrew the cover (carefully, they become quite brittle) and the switch is obvious. Same switch as the door switches. My guess it has been knocked out of its position.

Re: Estate luggage area light issue
I'm here!
Yes, the switch is buried up near the hinge attachment point on the body. I'm also pretty sure that the switch on the light itself has 3 positions, Off, on when the tailgate is open and on all the time. Looking at the wiring diagram confirms this so do check that the switch on the light unit isn't in the wrong place. I'll see if I have a spare switch here to have a look at (in the garage that is - I'm not going down the garden to look in the 'store' in this weather)! Also see if the wires are in the correct place on the light/switch unit.
Cheers,
Mike.

Re: Estate luggage area light issue
Mike you crack me up I have no idea btw why my own computer sent itself it's own quote last night!!!!
So right ok - Yes, the luggage area light DOES have a switch. It's been a while since usage - I seem to recall that it was a manual thing - as in just a two way affair - Open the hatch - if it is dark - flick the switch to 'ON' to give light. Turn 'OFF' when done. ....
Forward fast to the recent weeks - with all the starting and running etc - noticed this luggage area light is 'on' .... open hatch, move the switch either way - light stays on....did not make any difference, whatever the switch position was, or hatch position, the bulb was lit - remove bulb - temporary fix
