Mk 1 headlight rocker switches. Do they come out?

Hello everyone.
I have an early Mk 1 that has a headlight issue in that they don't work. Obviously it could be they need replacing but I've read the switches are well known for causing issues.
Does anyone know if they come out of the dash. I can't get my hand up behind them to clean or check the contacts and want to get them out from the dash side but don't want to break them.
Thanks
Joe

They have nuts on the back which when un screwed means the unit comes forward out of the dash. Rather fiddly, but do-able! Good luck.

After a period off the road, the headlight and wiper rocker switches on my Royal Blue Mk1 were a bit intermittent - sometimes the lights wouldn't work, other times not, and likewise with the wipers. It will be the contacts within the switch itself, rather than the visible connectors on the rear. A few squirts with electrical switch cleaner getting behind the rocker switches from the front, and then operating them a good few times did the trick, and they now work everytime, as they should. I didn't take them out to do it - I left them in the dash.
However, if you can't get them working again, I have some good used switches if needed.

Hi, I had this problem with my MK 1 headlamp rocker. The side lights power the rear lights. So it is possible to have both switches on and back lights not working if the side light rocker does not connect. John gave me the same advice. Which is squirt so electrical servicol spray (Try not to use WD40, makes such a mess). Work it back and forth. You can just get a bit of spray in there between the rockers. I was delighted when it worked. Dashboard lights came on when side lights worked, so I was DE-LIGHTED. I know dreadful joke. Good luck though.

All the best

Jeffrey

Hello. Are your switches still available?
Thanks
Joe
