Head lamp retaining ring

511598 is the headlamp retaining ring for the Mark 2.... CW only lists 511598SH which I get is second hand but other suppliers list both 511598A and also 511598P....
...anyone know what the differences are?

A quick Google has hopefully answered your question David!
James Paddock of Chester list 511598 with both with the A and P suffix numbers. It looks like they have manufactured a replacement bowl in PLASTIIC (P) as opposed to the original steel bowl (A), and this differentiates the two rims relative to the original steel bowl and the replacement plastic. There must be a slight difference in the two bowls with minor differences in the rim.

I've ordered the A version from James Paddock but what throws me is that our cars don't have a full metal bowl whereas my understanding is that the Stag did...
... They should arrive tomorrow and hopefully they'll fit - and I'll be able to report good news for the next edition of SixAppeal as the rebuild draws to a close
