2000 Mk2 1974.
Driving to do the shopping today I noticed that the headlights were flicking on and off, ending up off when I got to the supermarket. Fortunately it was light for the return journey.
I investigated when I got home and tested the main light switch, 12v on the output so looked at the indicator/high beam switch and the problem was obvious. The blue/red wire had come off the connector. Reconnect and all is fine.
The irritating thing is that the switch is only 3 months old.
Headlights failed
Re: Headlights failed
gday
Fit relays to both HI and low
This fixes it because the switch no longer overheats
Run a new supply to the relays via a 40 amp circuit breaker directly from the battery, Use fused relays 20 amps should be OK. The relay is rated at 40 amps probably which is quite sufficient.
DO NOT USE THE EXISTING BROWN WIRE FROM THE ALTERNATOR/STARTER MOTOR it is as old as the car and will be compromised.
cheers
