My imported 2000 mk 1.
There will not be a specific official shown in the 'Who' Who' section relative to the issue you have, although the President (Andy Roberts) has in the past used his vast knowledge and Register records to assist with similar quests - ie if a vehicle has been off the road and has never hs a DVLA registration document, and the DVLA require a Club Official to confirm that the vehicle should retain its its original registration due to 'historical interest' etc.
Also more recently the first mass produced 2000 (MB1) to roll off the production line was found, but there was a dispute regarding its authenticity, and Andy used his expertise to verify that the vehicle found was without doubt MB1; this evidence helped the DVLA to come to their judgement about this particular vehicle.
So, whilst there isn't a special role for this specific task, it is something that is undertaken by a Register Official for unusual but warranted circumstances.

Re: My imported 2000 mk 1.
Thanks Charles....I got a link in an email from the register, which took me to the webpage for the digital version of SixAppeal. I have actually purchased a basic certificate from the BMIHT, so just waiting on that now. There was a person mentioned in the club listing. I will email Maggie and see what else I can sort out. Thanks again...

Again, thanks for your help jonnydog. Apparently there is a Trudi Pettyjohns mentioned in the list pulled from the DVLA authorised listing within the club.

Hi Mike, Good luck with the BMIHT certificate. My experience is that they don't have records for CKD cars like yours, the prefix 2 indicating an Australian-built car (as does the AMI plate of course). But you'll never know... Best, Thorsten

That is the TSSC. IMHO they are not very clued up on the 2000 saloon range being foremost the club for the small chassis cars, Herald Spitfire etc.SouthernMike wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 4:17 pmAgain, thanks for your help jonnydog. Yes... you're right Charles....my mistake. I was getting 'Sports Six' mixed with my 'Six Appeal'...

Re: My imported 2000 mk 1.
Unfortunately the Register does not currently have a DVLA officer, which is why the Register does not appear in the DVLA's list of recognised car clubs. We stopped doing it many years ago, as more than 10 years had elapsed with no call for interaction with the DVLA. Now in the last couple of years there have been a small number of requests for support from the Register in dealing with the DVLA. I will raise this issue at the next Board meeting, which is happening soon.
This doesn't help you, though. I'm afraid all I can suggest is that you contact one of the other Triumph clubs, and the TSSC is as good as any; I know that Club Triumph also offers this service. I am more than willing to help with this in any way that I can, but unfortunately the DVLA are rather intransigent at the moment and refuse to deal with a club that is not on their list, however knowledgeable or appropriate that club may be. The Triumph clubs all get along well with each other, so if the club you use to help with your applictaion has any questions I will be only too happy to try to answer them.
I'm really sorry that the Register can't help you directly with this at the moment.

Hello triumphman,
Thanks for the information. I shall try and contact Kevin at Club Triumph as I was in contact with him some weeks ago, but I'm not a member of that organisation. Just as a query, what does a 'DVLA officer' have to do? Do they physically inspect the vehicle?

Re: My imported 2000 mk 1.
There is a 'V765 scheme', the purpose of which was originally to help to reclaim an original registration number when the vehicle had not been registered with the DVLA by a certain cut-off date (that I can't remeber, but some time in the 1980s). More recently the role seems to have been expanded (by the DVLA) to deal with other matters, such as yours and the MB1 saga that was mentioned previously. To be on the DVLA list, a club has to apply to the DVLA and convince them that they are sufficiently knowledgeable and responsible.
In your case, the DVLA would expect the vehicle to be inspected, to verify that it was what you said it was, and the club official would fill in the relvant forms to say that it had been done. Club Triumph do offer this service to non-members (a DVLA requirement), but it's twice the price of the service for a member. Cheaper to join CT and pay the member's price. Once again I'm really sorry that we can't do this for you.

Okay triumphman, thanks for info on V765.
On-going update:
I have now received my BMIHT certificate, which looks like, they have records of the export documents of groups of cars going abroad in various formats to various countries. I’m in touch with Kevin from Club Triumph, so hopefully, things will move on now, although I’m not holding my breath…more next time.
