My imported 2000 mk 1.

I’ve recently joined the club and forum and introduced myself on the new members section and wondered whether anyone can advise me on this issue I have. I bought a 2000 mk1 last September. It came into the country back in 2019 from New Zealand, but has had a few ‘owners’ since then. Documentation consists of a shipping page and a NOVA...that’s it. I have tried contacting the New Zealand version of our DVLA and the Australian version, but it appears no records exist. I have no export certificate. Anyone have any experience with a similar problem?
...thanks in advance.

Have you tried ringing the DVLA? When speaking with them in the past, I have found them very helpful assuming you get the right person on the call. They will be the best people to talk to as to what is required. Good luck.

You should be able to determine from the VIN no whether the car was originally built for for the UK market or was destined for export.
Has it spent any time in the UK or was it exported immediately after production? Do you know what has happened to the import papers from 2019?
As you are planning on registering the car in the UK, maybe a BMIHT certificate from Gaydon may be beneficial to assist with this. It should outline the build date, identication numbers, options and where it was destined for. There will be other details on the certificate, and the DVLA do use these certificates to help validate a cars authenticity.

Re: My imported 2000 mk 1.
...thanks Charles. I had phoned DVLA and they suggested the V55/5.
...thanks jonnydog. As you can see below...I’ve gone down the V55/5 route. Unfortunately, I was given very little paperwork – only what I stated in the original post.
The vehicle appears to have been built down under in Australia, hence the plate:

I tried contacting various departments in NZ and Australia, but they couldn’t help much. So I had submitted a V55/5 and this was their reply...

Re: My imported 2000 mk 1.
Ignore the £55 fee failure...not even mentioned in the V55/5 pdf guide. In the first highlighted section is the the VIN...it’s the main lower highlighted paragraph that’s more relevant.
I did send all documents that I got with the vehicle, along with proof of me and my address and a covering letter, so I’m not sure why they did not acknowledge their presence. I’m hoping someone could enlighten me on who might be able to ‘inspect’ the vehicle from the club as suggested in the section above. The list is below:

I don’t know whether the list is up to date, but I know Kevin Hagger is current as I managed a quick chat with him through a link in a Facebook group, he also suggesting V55/5.
...thanks again

Mike, you say you've joined the 'club' - do you mean the Triumph 2000 Register? If so, there are officials in our club that may be able to help you in providing the necessary information the DVLA require, but this is a benefit for members. The Register in not shown though on your attachment of Clubs?
Maybe someone else may be able to assist with this info - I don't know whether Mk1's were sent to Australia in CKD kit form ('complete knock down' - literally parts from the UK exported in crates to other countries for assembly), or whether they were assembled here in the UK and then exported as a whole car. Mk2's were but I'm not sure about Mk1's. The chassis no. 2MB ***** BW would tend to suggest there may be records in the UK, with the 2 prefix indicating which country it went to (Australlia?). The rest of the chassis no is exactly as the UK format. I don't believe there is a list of body numbers of UK assembled vehicles which had a different style of plate to the one in your attachment. If they were exported as a whole car, then it may be worth asking the question with the BMIHT (giving the chassis no. not the body number) you have nothing to lose, but maybe some info to gain?). If they do have any records then it may be the piece of paper that could assist you.
Sorry there are are a lot of 'what if's and nothing concrete etc, but I haven't access to my Triumph info at the moment (this is only 'off the top of my head'), but short of further info from anyone else....

Re: My imported 2000 mk 1.
Well I paid a fee by PayPal back in May and received a digital copy of issue 256 of the SixAppeal magazine. There was no mention or instructions for anything else that I could see regarding my membership...

You will have paid the lower fee for a digital copy of the Sixappeal. Issue 257 is now out. I get hard copies, so not sure of the protocol regarding how members are informed for the digital ones. If you have membership issues, speak with Maggie Roberts or email her. Her details are just inside the cover of the magazine. Other useful details can be found here https://triumph2000register.co.uk/ Your VIN number section MB102230BW would indicate to me that the car was built as an automatic in 1968. The first car being built in 1969 being 109687. An official of the T2000 register may be able to write an official letter acceptable to the DVLA with this information. A BMIHT certificate from Gaydon will also be an excellent idea and should provide further interesting information.
