Triumph 2000 Classic Car Insurance

#1 Post by johnnydog » Tue Jun 30, 2020 3:46 pm

The insurance on my fleet of Triumphs is up for renewal. I have been with RH for many years (also previously known as Equity Red Star), and whilst I have never made a claim and have no gripes about them, I thought this year may be the time to look around at alternative companies.
I know everybody is viewed on an individual basis, and what may be good for one is not always good for another, but I just wondered what experiences other owners have had with other companies, whether that be on price or if they have experienced a claim.
Any thoughts or observations would be greatly appreciated!

I'm with Peter James myself. I have 3 vehicles on it, PI, Stag and Land Rover. The cost is roughly based on the total value of them all, so with the Land Rover (and to a lesser degree the Stag) the total cost is more that than it was when I had just the PI and 2000 on it.

I've not had to claim on them (yet!) but they've always been fine and helpful on the phone.

All this is just from my experience.

Cheers,
Mike.

Hi John,I, like Mike am with Peter James too. As Mike says, price is against valuation, never any problem(touch wood). Having said that, have not needed to claim, and God willing,I hope I don't have to!!
Take care all!

Thanks Mike / Bill for the suggestion of Peter James! I have got a list of some companies to contact, but others experiences / recommendations will be gratefully received!

Been with Footman James for about 20 years for the whole fleet including the modern and have made several claims. Great value and very easy to deal with in all matters.

I ended up contacting my existing insurer RH about some minor amendments to my Policy and about why it had increased by £70 + from last year. The girl I spoke wasn't particularly helpful and appeared to be in a CBA mood...and her 'our quotes are very competitive' didn't really persuade me.....
Tried Peter Best but ended up in a queue which didn't seem to reduce at any great speed, so gave it up as a bad job.
Tried Cherished Vehicle Insurance who advertise in SIXappeal. Got through immediately (no press this for that, and that for this malarcy...), gave me an instant quote, including suggesting that my vehicles were under insured. Saved over £130 on all 6 Triumphs - no increase in premium for Agreed Value above Market Value and the suggested increased value didn't affect the premium either. Pete Barrett was very helpful too, and overall I was very impressed with their service.
Having an interest in our cars owning a converted 2.5PI estate (was previously a 2000) is no doubt a good thing as he was obviously on my wavelength rather than some remote advisor who didn't do anything to promote customer service relations.
Well done Cherished.....!
