Website Photographs

#1 Post by Tinsmith_Skippy » Sun Nov 18, 2018 6:55 pm

As a regular picture poster on here It seems to be getting harder to post pictures. I have always posted picture links from an online picture host which has been reduced to 5 per thread, it use to be more. I had 10 pictures on a thread I went to add some more pictures it got reduced to 5 so now there’s some missing.

Recently I’ve had problems uploading JPEG’s from my phone app resizer. Whilst using the forum pm messenger I tried to add a photo attachment with the message and a message informed me this file can’t be used?

There is a discussion page on the club Facebook page, I use the wife’s account to view these posts, Facebook obviously makes it easier to upload media into your posts. I’ve never had a social media account and I never will.

It’s frustrating these changes are happening without any update explanation.

I don’t want to offend anybody’s efforts just remembering the fallout last time there was a forum debate.

I've never understood how to get photos on this or any other forum, so anything that simplifies the process would be greatly welcomed by myself, for one!!

Hello John this is how I upload pictures on the forum!

Find the app named resizer from the App Store. It’s free yay 8)

Image

When you open the app you need to open a picture from your photo library.

Image

Then you have to resize the photo.

Image

The values must be these or under or you get the dreaded this image is to large!

Image

Once you have entered the amounts you need to press ok and done

Now you need to save the file back on you device

Image

Now my gripe I’ve used 5 external links

Once you’ve done it a 100 times and whilst I’m doing all this I have some saying I can’t see any pictures! It gets easier but if anyone knows an easier way I for one would be all ears.

I’m not a web or computer genius but is there anyway the forum site can change the file size to make uploading easier and not use a third party program.

Thanks for that info Ross - I'll give it a try! It certainly seems quite a long winded affair when loading pictures on Ebay for example is so very simple. Probably print off your instructions so that I can refer to them during my first attempt!
Did you get my pm (in appreciation!) for your envelope?

I have changed the website so that large files should now automatically resize when uploading... Currently testing the functionality...

SimonO

Thanks for sorting this out, will it work the same from any source (e.g Samsung, iPhone, iPad, Windows 10 etc.)?

Also what formats are accepted (.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .bmp, .tiff etc)?

Thanks for your hard work - been there, done that - feel your pain.

If you want a user/tester let me know - happy to help if I can.

In theory (!) all file types from any device. I have removed the upload filesize, but forced the messageboard to resize if they are large (to 600px x 600px max). If the storage levels go through the roof, I may have to rethink things, but let's give it a try...
